Wilpshire Golf Club – Winter Works Programme 2015/16
At a meeting of the Greens Committee, Ray Grimshaw Chair, Andy Townsend Head Greenkeeper, Lady Captain Barbara Myler, Brian Moran and Tony Holt, held at the Golf Club on Monday 21st September the following was agreed as the basis of a winter works programme for 2015/16.
10th hole right hand side of fairway and rough from 150 marker to green, to investigate causation of very poor drainage in this area and provide cost estimate of works to rectify.
Drainage ditches all to be cleared and banks strengthened where required.
Investigate other areas as yet unidentified but appear problematic during winter season and liaise with Greens Chairman with regard potential cost and prioritisation.
Trees and shrubs;
Removal of three sickly Rhododendron between 2nd and 3rd fairways, from road 1st, 4th and 7th bush, ground to be made good prior to replacement with deciduous trees to be determined.
Removal of dead trees to right of 3rd fairway and left of 16th tee if possible using hand saw or chain saw subject to qualification of operatives.
Request of Council;
Removal of shrubbed area adjacent to professional shop and make good with appropriate material.
Path in front of clubhouse to practice net’s, cost laying of path in rubberised materials and other suitable material e.g. red shale.
The committee congratulated Andy and his team on the presentation of the course during this summer season which had been commented on by both club members and visitors throughout the summer on numerous occasions to the Greens Chairman and requested that the clubs appreciation be passed on to his team.
